Review: The Incredibles (2004)
Don't be fooled by the previews, the cut scenes for the ads and the McDonalds cross-promotions, The Incredibles isn't for the kids. Sure, kids'll be entertained, but it'll be the adults taking them along that'll get the most from the latest Pixar offering.
Like Monsters Inc and Toy Story before it, The Incredibles combines all of its elements in just the right way. In terms of writing, they got the perfect combination of slapstick, wit and story. The animation is awesome, as is the casting (Holly Hunter, Samuel L Jackson and Jason Lee) but what really got me was the character design (eg Edna the costume designer) and set design; the whole retro-futuristic style carries throughout the whole film. This is one I'll definitely be buying when it comes out on DVD.
Make sure to get to the cinema on time because you don't want to miss the short - Boundin' - that precedes the feature.
The Incredibles
